Crossing over a threshold and into worlds within worlds, these films highlight the ways in which cinema uses scale – from the giant to the miniscule – to illustrate new perspectives of the world around us. Drawing from the playful realm of science fiction or harnessing new camera technology to capture the microcosm of tiny animal life, these films encompass characters so small they can explore the human body from inside the bloodstream through to mushrooms that grow to alarmingly large proportions. ‘Hidden Worlds’ is presented by Queensland Museum and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) for the World Science Festival, Brisbane 2026.
