Shipwreck survivors find themselves on a deserted island inhabited by malevolent mushrooms. A camp 1960s Japanese thriller by Godzilla director Ishirô Honda made 11 years after his iconic kaiju (monster) film. Known both by its Japanese name Matango and the US-release English title Attack of the Mushroom People, the film is replete with hallucinatory sequences, complex relationship dynamics and mushroom monster costumes.
