SYNOPSIS

Shigeru discovers and repairs a broken surfboard he discovers while working as a garbage man. Together with his girlfriend, he becomes determined to learn how to ride it and join the local surf community. Despite being shot in Takeshi Kitano’s typical deadpan style, this is a quietly touching story that sits in fascinating contrast to the director’s more famous crime sagas.
