Author Neil Gaiman describes the creative process as ‘driving through the fog with one headlight out’. Drawing inspiration from the outstanding documentary Don’t Be Nice 2018, which follows a group of young slam poets from New York City as they hone their craft for the national championships, this panel delves into the challenging process of refining and reworking ideas, from inception to completion, discussing the uncertainty and vulnerability that buffers them along the way. Join journalist and author Trent Dalton, Bangarra choreographer and dancer Yolande Brown and Brisbane spoken-word poet Huda Fadlelmawla in this thought-provoking discussion.
