SYNOPSIS

Finke: There and Back explores one of the fastest, toughest and deadliest races from within. 26-year-old director Dylan River captures — with a panoramic visual flair — the grandeur of the central Australian desert, lending a presence of myth and seduction to a bike race promising thrill and adventure. Following his debut documentary Buckskin 2013, director Dylan River fine-tuned his skills working as cinematographer on Sweet Country 2017. River, a dirt bike-lover and competitor himself, offers a rare insider perspective on the logistics of the annual race from Alice Springs to the Finke River and back, exploring the emotions and roles of the competitors, organisers and paramedics.
