Queensland artist Shirley Macnamara of the Indjalandji/Alyawarr people is an inspirational figure in Indigenous Australian art. Diane Moon (Curator, Indigenous Fibre Art) introduces this new exhibition, covering the full span of Macnamara’s practice from 1997 to the present and highlighting the artist’s unique sculptural pieces, crafted from the spinifex plant and its runner roots.
