About

Discuss art, life, culture and creativity from the comfort of your own home at the QAGOMA Members Virtual Book Club. Too Much Lip (2018), Melissa Lucashenko Session 1: Wed 27 May, 3.00pm Session 2: Thu 28 May, 10.30am Winner of the 2019 Miles Franklin Literary Award, 'Too Much Lip' is a gritty and darkly humorous story about the relationship between people and nature. Set in the fictional Australian town of Durrongo, Lucashenko depicts the generations of an Aboriginal family living on country through a fast-paced plot. Secrets are unravelled and character flaws revealed. Traces of settler/colonial violence and intergenerational trauma weave through their lives. Lucashenko shows readers the restorative function of country, culture and belonging, as her writing brings landscapes and waterscapes to life.
