Set in the fictional Australian town of Durrongo, Lucashenko depicts the generations of an Aboriginal family living on country through a fast-paced plot. Secrets are unravelled and character flaws revealed. Traces of settler/colonial violence and intergenerational trauma weave through their lives. Lucashenko shows readers the restorative function of country, culture and belonging, as her writing brings landscapes and waterscapes to life.
