Drop-in workshop: Bloom for Tomorrow

Artist Dylan Mooney invites you to create a Bloom for Tomorrow collage, taking inspiration from Australia’s botanicals and endangered native flora. Curate a selection of flowers and implant a powerful message that reflects your vision for the future of Australia’s environment.

Dylan Mooney is a Yuwi, Torres Strait and South Sea Islander artist who works across painting, printmaking, digital illustration and drawing. Mooney is influenced by history, culture and family and creates work responding to community stories, current affairs and social media.

All materials provided, and all skill levels welcome! Low Sensory hours 8.30 – 10.00am.

What to Expect

Here’s what to expect at this event. Everyone is welcome! Please contact teens@qagoma.qld.gov.au in advance of the event if you have any access needs or queries about the event. Find out more about Accessibility at QAGOMA and planning your visit.

Event access and supervision

  • Events during the Teens Festival are designed to be drop-in all day, free and unbooked for teens aged 13-19 years
  • QAGOMA staff will be available during the Teens Festival to support attendees at events, however teens will not be supervised by staff for their visit. Teens are not required to be supervised by an adult during their visit, only those 12 & under (as per QAGOMA’s Conditions of Entry)
  • The Gallery is open to all visitors during the Teens Festival, however the events are designed specifically for people aged 13-19 years. Parents are welcome to attend the Teens Festival, however the event is designed for teens to experience without adult supervision

Participation and content

  • Teens are welcome to come with a friend, in a group or solo. Many people attend the Gallery and events on their own
  • No experience is required. The Teens Festival is designed is for all skill levels. All the events are free and unbooked for teens aged 13-19 years
  • You don’t need to bring anything, all materials are supplied

Sensory aspects

  • A Low Sensory Experience of the Teens Festival will be held between 8.30 – 10.00am. Suitable for Autistic visitors and visitors with sensory sensitivity or disability
  • A range of different types of seating will be available during the Teens Festival, including floor seating, plus chairs with and without backs
  • The DJ sets, talks and live music will feature amplified microphones and music
  • You may be photographed by a QAGOMA photographer during the Teens Festival. Please let staff know if you do not wish to be photographed
