About

Please note: due to the ongoing difficulties posed by Covid-19, the previously advertised in-person talk will no longer take place. A pre-recorded virtual Q&A between Lauren Carroll Harris and Robert Hughes, curator of the APT10 cinema program 'Australian Next Wave', will screen in the cinema instead. We apologise for any disappointment caused by this change. Join curator and scholar Lauren Carroll Harris for a talk exploring contemporary experimental art cinema in Australia and the role of her innovative moving image platform Prototype in this landscape. Lauren Carroll Harris is a writer, curator and former casual academic who has contributed to such outlets as Cineaste, 7am podcast, Sydney Review of Books, Kill Your Darlings and The Saturday Paper. She previously worked as a staff critic on Radio National's The Screen Show and an assistant editor at RealTime arts magazine. In 2019, Lauren founded Prototype, an experimental moving image platform which positions video art as public art, and has since curated programs from Prototype's archive for Carriageworks and Goulburn Regional Art Gallery. Her academic research has been published in such journals as International Journal of Cultural Policy.
