Hear from Professor Alastair Blanshard, Paul Eliadis Chair, School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry, University of Queensland, as he delves into the mythical and sensual history of the Minotaur and Pygmalion, from classical mythology to contemporary art. Alastair Blanshard was born in Brisbane in 1973, and has studied at the University of Queensland and the University of Cambridge. He has held positions at Merton College, Oxford, the University of Reading, and the University of Sydney. He has been a visiting fellow at the Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, the University of Cincinnati, Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, and the University of Warwick. His area of research interest is the ancient Greek world and its legacy. He is the author of 'Hercules: A Heroic Life' (2005) translated into Italian, German, and Dutch, 'Sex: Vice and Love from Antiquity to Modernity' (2010), 'Classics on Screen: Ancient Greece and Rome on Film (2011), and 'The Classical World: All that Matters' (2015).
