What to expect

Here’s what to expect at this event.

Participation and content

  • You are welcome to come with a friend or by yourself. Many people attend the Gallery solo.
  • We encourage you to leave your digital devices in the free cloak room during this viewing. If you want to attend but keep your phone on you, please keep it in your pocket or bag on silent during the session.
  • This is a self-guided event, designed for all ages. Kids and families are welcome. It is an opportunity to view the exhibition before hours, in a more focussed setting without the distraction of digital devices.
  • Drop-in drawing will be available in the exhibition. No skills or experience required. All materials are provided. This is a self-guided activity. Please return your materials to the station once you are finished.
  • We ask all attendees to be kind, respectful, and courteous to all participants, speakers and staff at this event. This program will be monitored by QAGOMA staff to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our attendees, speakers and staff.

Tickets

  • A valid 'Phone Free Viewing: Make, Believe, Magic' ticket is required to attend this event.
  • Your 'Phone Free Viewing: Make, Believe, Magic' ticket grants you access to the 'Make, Believe, Magic: The Worlds of The Jim Henson Company' exhibition from 8.30–10.00am on the date of the event. You are welcome to stay in the exhibition once the doors open to the public at 10.00am, however once you leave the exhibition you cannot re-enter and no pass outs are permitted.
  • QAGOMA Members ticket vouchers are not accepted for this event.
  • Tickets can be booked online or over the phone via the QTIX Call Centre – 136 246.
  • QTIX is QAGOMA’s Ticketing provider, with a call centre and box office operating within the QPAC building in the Cultural Centre. QTIX Call Centre open hours details are available via on their website.
  • Cancellation and refund policy: Tickets are not refundable, in line with the QTIX terms and conditions agreed at sale, or transferable if you change your mind. Refunds may be considered in extenuating circumstances at the Gallery's discretion. Please contact events.plus@qagoma.qld.gov.au for more information.

Sensory aspects and Accessibility

  • Portable stools without backs will be available during the viewing. Please advise staff onsite if you require a chair with a back.
  • There may be low level noise from a nearby artwork or the sounds of the Gallery.
  • This experience is wheelchair and pram accessible.
  • Different areas of the exhibition will be dimly or brightly lit (you may choose to wear sunglasses).
  • The Gallery air conditioning is set to 21°C to conserve the artworks.
  • This event may be photographed by QAGOMA staff. If you do not wish to be photographed, please advise a QAGOMA staff member.
  • If the event becomes overwhelming or stressful, earmuffs and sensory kits are available. Each kit contains a number of resources for self-regulation and calming — please speak to a staff member for assistance. These kits can also be requested in advance by emailing events.plus@qagoma.qld.gov.au

Companion Cards

We accept Companion Cards. A Companion Card is issued by the Queensland Government, for those with a disability and need for attendant care support. The ‘Companion’ ticket type is only valid for your companion to gain complimentary entry. A General Admission, Concession, Youth or QAGOMA Member ticket is required for the Companion Card holder to access this event. A valid companion card number is required to be supplied upon booking
