Cronin is called up shortly after meeting Myra, and desperate to spend the little time they have left together, Myra skips rehearsals to farewell him. As a result, she is dismissed and her life begins a downward spiral that worsens when she reads of Cronin's misreported death. Resorting to prostitution, Myra struggles with her love for Roy and the tragic turns her life has taken.
