In the first of a two-part series exploring ‘Make, Believe, Magic: The Worlds of The Jim Henson Company’, Victoria Wareham, Assistant Curator, Australian Cinémathèque will introduce three film programs that explore the Company's productions, the artistry of Jim Henson's Creature Shop, and the wider influence of puppetry on world cinema.
'Screened to be Believed: The Jim Henson Company' highlights productions that showcase the technical innovation and artistry behind some of the most memorable cinematic worlds. 'Where the Wild Things Are Made: Jim Henson's Creature Shop' celebrates the craftsmanship and pioneering techniques used to bring extraordinary characters to life. 'Beyond Henson: Puppetry and World Cinema' explores the rich international history of storytelling through the artforms of cinema and puppetry.
Screening at the Australian Cinémathèque, GOMA, from 12 September 2026 – 18 April 2027.
This lecture is free for Members, $10 Members’ guests. Bookings are essential as capacity is limited.
