About
Delve deeper into QAGOMA exhibitions and displays at our monthly Members lecture then catch up with friends over a two-course lunch in the GOMA Restaurant. Join Abigail Bernal, Assistant Curator, International Art, and Nina Miall, Curator, International Art, for a conversation about the grand middle chapter of ‘European Masterpieces from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York’. Colour, movement and sensuality animate the Baroque, which began in Rome in the 1600s and spread through Europe until the mid 1700s. ‘Absolutism and Enlightenment’ takes us across the Continent, through the Italian Baroque, the Dutch Golden Age, and French Rococo and Neoclassical movements, ending with the political and social unrest of the French Revolution in 1789. This exhibition is organised by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, in collaboration with the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art and Art Exhibitions Australia.
