Here’s what to expect at this event.

Participation and content

• These performances are family-friendly and designed for all ages to enjoy. The content is pitched best to engage children aged 1-9 years, but younger and older children are also welcome. Parents and guardians are encouraged to use their discretion in deciding whether the performance feels right for their child’s interests and enjoyment. If you are unsure whether this program is the right fit for your child, please reach out to events.plus@qagoma.qld.gov.au.
• Puppets and performers encourage the audience to join in by responding, laughing and interacting throughout. The puppeteers introduce themselves at the start, and while most of the show takes place behind a puppet theatre, some puppetry is performed on stage in full view. Audiences are invited to stand and dance along during one song, and up to eight volunteers aged 7+ are invited on stage later to help operate a large puppet. Participation is optional - feel free to stay seated if you prefer.
• Children under 12 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times during these performances.
• We understand that children don’t always sit still and sometimes make noise, and that’s perfectly ok.
• The 10.15am and 11.15am performances on Sat 26 Sep & Sun 24 Jan are repeat sessions of the same show.
• We ask all attendees to be kind, respectful, and courteous to all participants, speakers and staff at this event. This program will be monitored by QAGOMA staff to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our attendees, speakers and staff.

Information for families

• Pram parking is available for these performances. Please park your pram in the designated ‘pram parking’ zone before entering. Remember to keep valuable items with you at all times.
• All areas of GOMA are accessible by lift or ramp.
• A free cloak room is located at the entry to GOMA. Please check bags bigger than 40cm x 15cm x 35cm, and umbrellas.
• There are two parents’ rooms at GOMA, one in the Cinema Foyer on Level 1 and one located on Park Level near the lift.
• Breastfeeding and infant bottle-feeding are welcome anywhere in the Gallery, or you can use the parents’ rooms at either QAG or GOMA. The parents’ rooms can be used to mix infant formula. Food and drink for older children and adults are not allowed in the Gallery, and we ask you to please keep water bottles in a bag.

Ticketing

• A valid ​'Queensland Puppetry Showcase: Larrikin Puppets'​ ticket is required for all attendees, including children and adults accompanying children.
• Children under the age of 1 must be seated on the lap of an adult.
• QAGOMA Members ticket vouchers are not accepted for this event.
• Your ‘​​Queensland Puppetry Showcase: Larrikin Puppets’ ticket grants access to the performance time and date listed on the ticket only - it does not include entry to 'Make, Believe, Magic: The Worlds of The Jim Henson Company'. A separate, valid timed ticket is required to visit the exhibition.
• QTIX is QAGOMA’s Ticketing provider, with a call centre and box office operating within the QPAC building in the Cultural Centre. QTIX Call Centre open hours details are available via on their website.
• Cancellation and refund policy: Tickets are not refundable, in line with the QTIX terms and conditions agreed at sale, or transferable if you change your mind. Refunds may be considered in extenuating circumstances at the Gallery's discretion. Please contact events.plus@qagoma.qld.gov.au for more information.

Sensory aspects and Accessibility

• A range of different types of seating will be available during the performance, including floor seating on mats, cushions and chairs (with backs).
• Performers will use an amplified microphone and amplified music will be played. Please let us know in advance if you are hard of hearing so we can make this performance accessible for you.
• This event will be held in Cinema B, which is a 100-seat theatre space, the lights will be turned down on the audience during the event. You can leave the space at any time and re-enter the event.
• These performances are wheelchair accessible.
• Pre-reserved accessible seating is available, please email events.plus@qagoma.qld.gov.au in advance to request accessible seating.
• The Gallery air conditioning is set to 21°C to conserve the artworks.
• This event will be photographed by QAGOMA staff. If you do not wish to be photographed, please advise a QAGOMA staff member on arrival.
• If the event becomes overwhelming or stressful, earmuffs and sensory kits are available. Each kit contains a number of resources for self-regulation and calming. Please speak to a staff member for assistance. These kits can also be requested in advance by emailing access@qagoma.qld.gov.au.

Companion Cards

We accept Companion Cards. A Companion Card is issued by the Queensland Government, for those with a disability and need for attendant care support. The ‘Companion’ ticket type is only valid for your companion to gain complimentary entry. A General Admission, Youth, QAGOMA Member or Child ticket is required for the Companion Card holder to access this event. A valid companion card number is required to be supplied upon booking.
