Here’s what to expect at this event.

Participation and content

• The tours are designed for all ages to enjoy. The content is pitched to best engage children aged 4–8 years, but younger and older children are also welcome. Parents and guardians are encouraged to use their discretion in deciding whether the tour feels right for their child’s interests and enjoyment. If you are unsure whether this program is the right fit for your child, please reach out to events.plus@qagoma.qld.gov.au
• Children must be accompanied by an adult for this program.
• This tour is designed as a shared experience for children and their families, with a focus on fostering connection between adults and children. Adults are encouraged to actively participate alongside their children.
• Participation in activities throughout the tour is encouraged but always optional – children and adults are welcome to engage in whatever way feels comfortable, and at their own pace.
• We understand that children don’t always sit still and sometimes make noise, and that’s perfectly ok.
• We ask all attendees to be kind, respectful, and courteous to all participants, speakers and staff at this event. This program will be monitored by QAGOMA staff to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our attendees, speakers and staff.

Tickets

• A valid ‘Kids Tour: Make, Believe, Magic’ ticket is required for all attendees, including children and adults accompanying children.
• Your 'Kids Tour: Make, Believe, Magic' ticket grants access to this event, which includes access to the 'Make, Believe, Magic: The Worlds of The Jim Henson Company' exhibition from 8.30–10.00am on the date of your tour. You are welcome to stay in the exhibition once the doors open to the public at 10.00am, however once you leave the exhibition you cannot re-enter and no pass outs are permitted.
• QAGOMA Members ticket vouchers are not accepted for this event.
• Tickets can be booked online or over the phone via the QTIX Call Centre – 136 246.
• QTIX is QAGOMA’s Ticketing provider, with a call centre and box office operating within the QPAC building in the Cultural Centre. QTIX Call Centre open hours details are available via on their website.
• Cancellation and refund policy: Tickets are not refundable, in line with the QTIX terms and conditions agreed at sale, or transferable if you change your mind. Refunds may be considered in extenuating circumstances at the Gallery's discretion. Please contact events.plus@qagoma.qld.gov.au for more information.

Sensory aspects and Accessibility

• This event has a maximum capacity of 34 attendees (including children and adults).
• The tour will feature amplified sound and music.
• Please let us know in advance if you or your child are hard of hearing so we can make this program accessible for you.
• These tours can get a little noisy. There may also be low level noise from a nearby artwork or the sounds of the Gallery.
• The tour includes walking and interactive activities. The tour guide will adjust activities to accommodate different abilities and accessibility needs, upon request.
• The tour route is wheelchair accessible.
• Different areas of the event and exhibition will be dimly or brightly lit (you may choose to wear sunglasses).
• The bathrooms have sensor lights which activate as you enter.
• The Gallery air conditioning is set to 21°C to conserve the artworks.
• These events may be photographed by QAGOMA staff. If you do not wish to be photographed, please advise a QAGOMA staff member.
• If the event becomes overwhelming or stressful, earmuffs and sensory kits are available. Each kit contains a number of resources for self-regulation and calming. Please speak to a staff member for assistance. These kits can also be requested in advance by emailing events.plus@qagoma.qld.gov.au
• Please note that the exhibition includes puppets and animatronic creatures, props, costumes, original drawings, and moving image clips of various scale, so families can prepare their children for what to expect.

Information for families

• The tour route is pram accessible and pram parking is also available. Remember to keep valuable items with you at all times.
• All areas of GOMA are accessible by lift or ramp.
• A free cloak room is located at the entry to GOMA. Please check bags bigger than 40cm x 15cm x 35cm, and umbrellas.
• There are two parents’ rooms at GOMA, one in the Cinema Foyer on Level 1 and one located on Park Level near the lift.
• Breastfeeding and infant bottle-feeding are welcome anywhere in the Gallery, or you can use the parents’ rooms at either QAG or GOMA. The parents’ rooms can be used to mix infant formula. Food and drink for older children and adults are not allowed in the Gallery, and we ask you to please keep water bottles in a bag.

Companion Cards

We accept Companion Cards. A Companion Card is issued by the Queensland Government, for those with a disability and need for attendant care support. The ‘Companion’ ticket type is only valid for your companion to gain complimentary entry. An Adult, Concession, Youth, QAGOMA Member, Children (4-12) or Children under 4 ticket is required for the Companion Card holder to access this event. A valid companion card number is required to be supplied upon booking.
