About
The lively evening discussion program GOMA Talks returns during 'Cindy Sherman' for a discussion on contemporary feminism. Across two events, join special guest panellists and ABC Radio National hosts Paul Barclay (Big Ideas) and Sarah Kanowski (Books and Arts). In first session, 'The New Feminist Frontier' hosted by Paul Barclay, presenter of ABC Radio National's Big Ideas, guests ponder the question: from trolling, to gaming and online culture, is technology feminism's new frontier? We were told that new technology would unshackle women from the domestic duties of the home, and yet in the 21st century women's experience of online and social media is one of abuse, exclusion and exploitation. Guests include: Dr Emma A Jane, Author and Senior Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer, The University of New South Wales Alanah Pearce, Writer, presenter and Associate Editor, Toys and Culture, IGN Entertainment (joining via Skype from San Francisco) Dr Melinda Rackham, Artist, curator and writerDr Nicolas Suzor, Senior Research Fellow, Faculty of Law, Queensland University of TechnologyGOMA Talks sessions are free and no bookings are required to attend. Please arrive before 6.30pm to secure your seat.
