Zzade is an industrial rock project, fronted by 21 year-old Jade Roles, based in Meanjin / Brisbane. Zzade has steadily begun carving a place for herself in the music scene with her fuzzy bass guitar driven live shows. Winner of the GOMA Performance Award at the 2023 QUBE Effect Awards.

Known for her lush and moody dream pop, singer-songwriter Elizabeth is a self-proclaimed scarlet here to make you cry. Her debut album the wonderful world of nature (2020) has been called a glamorous and tragic, ultra-modern and undeniably timeless, queer answer to nihilistic, powerfully feminine pop heroes like Lana Del Rey and Lorde.

Maple Glider is the project of solo artist and singer-songwriter, Tori Zietsch. Known for strikingly emotional, intimate, and hypnotic performances that blend folk, acoustic guitar and deftly weighted piano chords, Maple Glider shares vignettes of her life through her music. Maple Glider’s second album release I Get Into Trouble (2023) has been hailed as a generous and deeply emotional record by The Guardian.

Proud descendants of the Jabirr Jabirr tribe in the Western Australian Kimberley, Meanjin/Brisbane based Tjaka fuse modern production with ancient sounds that drive audiences to their feet in a melting pot of hip-hop, reggae, and funk. Introducing the use of the Didjeribone (a slide yidaki like a trombone) and FaceBass (seismic microphone), you've never seen a show like this!

Methyl Ethel have received numerous awards and accolades, including two Australian Music Prize nominations, a top 5 triple j Hottest 100 placement, ARIA Platinum hits and an AIR Best Independent Album award.

You’ve heard of a werewolf, but what about a were-rabbit, or even a were-cockatoo? If you asked the people in your life, what animal would you be in their eyes?

Fairy Tales artist Abdul Abdullah invites you to explore this question by creating your own were-animal self-portrait using collage.

All materials supplied. This workshop is designed to be fun for all ages and skill levels.

Up Late is not a regular gig, it is an immersive experience that spans outside and indoors spaces at GOMA.

Your ticket includes access to:

  • Entry to level 1 of GOMA to view the ‘Fairy Tales’ exhibition
  • Entry to Gallery 1.4 to experience the Children’s Art Centre activities in ‘Jakkai Siributr: The Legend of the Rainbow Stag
  • Live band performances under a marquee on the Maiwar Green
  • Live pop-up music performances in the Gallery
  • Live theatrical performance, A Villain's Tale in the Gallery
  • Drop-in creative collage workshop for all ages and skill levels
  • Access to bars and food outlets where you can purchase beverages and food

To help plan your Up Late visit:

  • There is space to spread out inside and outside, with live music under the Maiwar Green marquee for fresh air and space to move
  • Capacity on both nights of Up Late is limited
  • Visit solo or with friends to enjoy performances, food and explore art
  • The outdoor Maiwar Green stage features amplified music. There are more quieter spaces inside the Gallery and at the GOMA Bistro
  • GOMA and the Maiwar Green stage are wheelchair accessible
  • All payments are cashless and contactless for your safety
  • Strobe lighting effects may be used during performances, which may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy
  • Up Late will go ahead rain, hail or shine
  • No BYO chairs permitted
  • Live music performances on the Maiwar Green stage on Sat 16 Mar will be Auslan Interpreted by Auslan Stage Left
