‘Design Tracks: Cairns’ is an annual 2-day residential program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander secondary students from Far North Queensland.

Hosted by QAGOMA Learning, the program offers students opportunities to work alongside established Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creative mentors. ‘Design Tracks’ encourages participants to feel inspired by the Creative Industries and consider their own future career pathways.

Alongside the 2023 NAIDOC theme “For our Elders”, Design Tracks will focus on the importance of Intergenerational knowledge sharing and access to knowledge sharing tools. Students will be asked to respond to a design challenge over the 2-day program, and will hear from members of the arts and tourism industries about the important role our Elders play in communities.

Itinerary

  • Students arrive Mon 28 August 2023 from 2pm
  • Program begins 9.00am Tuesday 29 August 2023
  • Program concludes and departure from 3pm Wednesday 30 August 2023

Nominations

Nominations are open Monday 10 July 2023 – Friday 4 August 2023.

Teachers and students are encouraged to nominate via a creative submission through the online form. This submission should show us a little about you, why you want to attend the program, or the things you love to create! This is not compulsory, but highly encouraged.

  • dance

Please submit a link to your socials, uploaded folio, or video via the online form.

Student submissions will be reviewed by a panel from QAGOMA learning team. Teachers and students will be notified of successful applicants by Thursday 10 August 2023.
