About
‘Design Tracks: Creative Pathways’ is an annual 3-day residential program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander secondary students from across Queensland.
Hosted by QAGOMA Learning, the program offers students opportunities to work alongside established Indigenous Australian creative mentors. ‘Design Tracks’ encourages participants to feel inspired by the Creative Industries and consider their own future career pathways.
Alongside the 2023 NAIDOC theme “For our Elders”, Design Tracks will focus on the importance of intergenerational knowledges and how they are shared and accessed. Over the three-day intensive, students will work alongside four First Nations professional mentors, and propose a solution to our 2023 design challenge centred around Access and Wellbeing in the Brisbane Cultural precinct. The Cultural Precinct in South Brisbane/Kurilpa holds First Nations objects, artworks, and stories belonging to many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities all over Queensland and the country. Students will consider the role of cultural institutions across three-day program.
