Join Angela Goddard, Director, Griffith University Art Museum for this 3-part virtual short course, to discover a unique perspective on Australian art. Using artworks on display in QAGOMA’s Australian Art Collection, this introductory short course will explore aspects of Australian art history, from ancient Indigenous traditions through to the present day. Each virtual session will feature a focus lecture, followed by a Q&A with a contemporary artist. SESSION 1: Country, landscape and memoryFrom traditions, Indigenous Australian conceptions of country, through to documents made by colonial artists, consider depictions of the landscape in Australian art and the artist’s relationship to place and the environment. Guest artist Q&A: Ryan Presley. This short course is designed for art newcomers and those who are arts-interested / Auslan interpreted Free / Bookings required / These events are part of a virtual webinar series.
