About
This event is now sold out. The sessions will be recorded and made available on QAGOMA's YouTube Channel. Step back in time and immerse yourself in the beauty of artworks from ‘European Masterpieces from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York’, in this three-part art course presented by Dr Andrea Bubenik. Learn more about these extraordinary artworks and the contexts that informed their creation. Each session will feature a lecture focusing on key themes in the exhibition, followed by a Q&A with an Australian artist where artworks will be considered through a contemporary lens. Session 3: The Power of Place From imagined gardens and teeming hunting grounds, to domestic interiors such as boudoirs and studios, the settings portrayed in an artwork play an integral role in what is being communicated. In this session, contemplate the power of place, both public and private, and the realities, dreams and myths enacted there. Guest artist Q&A: Christopher Bassi Tickets: $90 General admission, $75 QAGOMA Members (Valid QAGOMA Member or Foundation Card required). This course is designed for all art knowledge levels. All attendees will receive a course pack containing complementary readings and resources. Please note exhibition access is not included in this event. This exhibition was organised by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York in collaboration with Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art and Art Exhibitions Australia.
