A young teenager named Renee (Lulu Wilson) finds an alien in the desert near her home and naturally hides it in the basement. Grappling with a distanced mother and her troubled boyfriend, Renee prefers the company of her non-human friend whom she names Croak. With the authorities circling the creature’s crash site, Renee reluctantly trusts classmate Gil (Trae Romano) to help her hide its existence.
