Pioneering surgeon Dr James Xavier (Ray Milland) hopes to change the scientific landscape with his latest breakthrough: eyedrops that allow the user to experience hitherto inaccessible planes of human vision. As he continues to test it on himself, he finds his body is increasingly at the mercy of his incredible invention. A mind-bending tale of science pushed to its limits, the film also acts as an autobiographical allegory for Corman himself — a man whose outsider vision relegates him to the fringes of the world he loves.
