About
Spike Jonze’s live-action adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s beloved story follows a frustrated boy, Max (Max Records) whose bedroom transforms into a magical forest. Sailing to the land of the Wild Things, where freedom reigns, Max must come to terms with his own rampant emotions. Shot on Australia’s Mornington Peninsula, the film features extraordinary animatronic costumed characters developed by the Jim Henson Creature Shop and voiced by acclaimed actors including James Gandolfini and Catherine Keener.
Jim Henson actually first met with Sendak in 1968, and they collaborated on a segment for Sesame Street. While Sendak lived to see Where the Wild Things Are reach the big screen, Henson unfortunately did not.
