About
Made for German television, Portrait Werner Herzog is a rare screen self-examination of the director's life and work. Featuring uncharacteristically intimate footage of Herzog speaking with his friend and mentor Lotte Eisner, the short is personally revealing and a valuable insight into the filmmaking process of one of the legendary figures of German cinema. It contains sequences from several of the films he had made by this stage of his career, including striking behind-the-scenes footage from his shoots.
