About
When I see 'Hour of the Wolf' today, I understand that it is about a deep-seated division within me, both hidden and carefully monitored, visible in both my earlier and later work… - Ingmar Bergman
Drawing inspiration from Tod Browning's Dracula 1931, Bergman explores the horrible secrets that can lurk in people's hearts in the terrifying Hour of the Wolf. When artist Johan (Max von Sydow) travels to an island with his pregnant wife Alma (Liv Ullmann), he finds himself haunted by horrific nightmares. As a sense of creeping dread grows ever stronger, Johan and Alma are increasingly plagued by frightful and surreal visions.
