About
‘It’s not the need to make images, it’s that . . . I have curious eyes’, reveals French master director Agnès Varda in this, her final film, which explores her unorthodox approach to filmmaking.
Varda by Agnès unfolds as a riveting discussion that journeys through the acclaimed filmmaker’s career, revisiting — through clips and discussions with her co-creators — the passions and people who inspired her films. From her debut feature La Pointe Courte 1956 she became central to
the French New Wave filmmaking movement, garnering numerous awards from Cannes and Venice Film Festivals throughout her career. She continued to make work until her death in March this year at the age of 90. Like a private masterclass with one of the world’s most revered filmmakers, the documentary shines with Agnès Varda’s distinctive filmmaking voice, her deep sense of wonder and infectious delight in the world.
