A Screen Queensland supported production filmed in multiple locations across Brisbane and the Gold Coast, The Portable Door 2024 is set on the glistening cobbled streets of London’s financial district and charts the journey of a young intern as he embarks on an unconventional form of employment filled with magicians, goblins and mysterious portals.
Intern Paul (Patrick Gibson) struggles to find his way at enigmatic London company JW Wells & Co. When he and fellow intern Sophie (Sophie Wilde) discover a blue door, it opens into a world of magical possibilities.
An adaptation of Tom Holt’s 2003 Young Adult fantasy novel, The Portable Door features a stellar Australian cast, including Miranda Otto, Damon Herriman and Sam Neill, alongside Gibson and Christoph Waltz.
