About
Based on a beloved Norwegian folktale, The Polar Bear King finds Summerland King Valemon (Tobias Hoesl) transformed into a polar bear by an evil witch. He falls in love with the Winterland princess (Maria Bonnevie) and takes her to his southern home. The princess must go on a magical quest to break the witch’s curse and return her husband to human form.
The animatronic bear costume was built by Jim Henson's Creature Shop and inhabited by David Forman, a prolific stunt performer who has played many other ‘creature’ roles, including in Steve Barron's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990.
