About
Remorques will screen from an imported 35mm print.
Starring titan of French cinema Jean Gabin, Jean Grémillon's Remorques (Stormy Waters) is a melancholy portrait of tugboat captain André Laurent, who is torn between his dangerous work rescuing boats in the violent ocean waters and his tranquil home life with his wife Yvonne. When André rescues the mysterious Catherine during a storm, he finds himself tempted by the possibilities of an affair. Co-written by Jacques Prévert, Remorques is an entrancing melodrama of the highest order.
