About
Before she was an acclaimed writer-director for screen, Elaine May was half of one of America's most beloved comedy duos: Nichols and May. With her friend and longtime creative partner Mike Nichols (future EGOT-winning director of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? 1966, The Graduate 1967 and many others), she was a fixture of American stage and television through their immensely popular comedy routines. Meeting at the University of Chicago, they took the nation by storm with their innovatively improvisational sketches, poking at modern neuroses and social mores with biting wit. This documentary presents rare archival recordings of their performances, showcasing the timelessness of their material and the groundbreaking nature of their riotous comedy.
