About
The best way to capture the work and life of one the most important experimental audio-visual artists is through an unconventional documentary style.
A leading figure of minimal music, the American composer and filmmaker Phill Niblock is renowned for his hypnotic drone music. At 85, he is still relentlessly dedicated to composing, recording and touring around the world. Moreover, as the director of the Experimental Intermedia Foundation, he avidly supports other artists, hosting public concerts in his New York loft. Through a series of intimate conversations filmed over eight years, Niblock’s Sound Spectrums captures the incredible influence he has had on both his peers and on multiple generations of music enthusiasts.
