About
With an ethereal soundtrack by Dutch pianist Reinier van Houdt, Memento Stella creates a captivating, cosmic experience by overlaying and manipulating thousands of pieces of footage of everyday life.
Experimental Japanese filmmaker Makino Takashi coined the title of the film as a reminder that we reside among the stars, a wondrous fact that is easily forgotten in the barrage of our daily lives. He superimposes image, manipulates frame rates and uses multiple exposures — sometimes up to 200 images at once — of snow, water, foliage and buildings, which transmute into a hypnotising form resembling microscopic particles — or perhaps vast images of the universe.
