About
'In 1845, Meek wants to lead a group of colonists to Oregon, by using a shorter route straight across unknown mountain ridges. Hardships mount up quickly in Reichardt's first historic film. A real Western yet very topical, Meek's Cutoff is an existential road movie with a major role for the Pacific Northwest landscape, in this case the Oregon desert. The female perspective is unusual in a Western, as is the calm narrative tempo and the focus on everyday tasks.' International Film Festival Rotterdam
