About
Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives will screen from an imported 35mm print.
Boonmee is suffering from terminal kidney failure. As death approaches, he seeks to spend his final days alongside his family on their rural property. He finds himself joined by the ghost of his late wife, as well as his long-lost son, who has returned in the form of a strange primate-like creature. Boonmee's past and parallel lives converge as he speculates on the karmic causes of his illness and state of existence that lies ahead of him. Winner of the 2010 Palme d’Or, Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul's surreal masterpiece is a mesmerising exploration of mortality, spirituality and the many paths of connection that exist well beyond the physical realm.
