Fourth-generation Taiwanese puppeteer, Chris Huang, reinvents the wuxia martial-arts fantasy genre using traditional Chinese budaixi glove puppets. In this spin-off of 1980s television series Pili, martial arts masters battle to prevent demons controlling a sacred stone that can grant wishes. As earnest and compelling as it is wildly entertaining, Huang shines a light on the wonderous possibilities of puppetry on screen.
