About
Hunting for Hedonia examines the recent revival of the controversial and extraordinary medical technique Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), first used by pioneers in the 1960s. The treatment has led to incredible progress with hard-to-treat illnesses such as Parkinson’s disease, severe depression and eating disorders. Its reliability and potential misuse however is raising questions. If DBS can manipulate the human brain, might medicine have the power to change a person’s personality and emotions?
