Sibel 2018 Ages 18+
An incredible portrait of a fierce young woman who can only communicate in the unique whistling language of her Turkish village. Ostracised for her muteness, Sibel hunts down a dangerous wolf in the neighbouring forest in order to win acceptance from her village. Damla Sönmez gives a triumphant performance in the title role as one of recent cinema’s most captivating characters — a rebel defined both by her resourcefulness as a hunter and the depth of her gentle bond with her father. Coloured by the village’s expressive whistling language, this is an engrossing and powerful journey of self-discovery, desire and independence.
