In honour of its 40th anniversary, Dario Argento's beautiful, shocking and genre-defining classic Suspiria 1977 screens with prog-rock legends Claudio Simonetti's Goblin travelling from Italy to perform their iconic score, live.
Co-presented with Brisbane Festival and in association with The Tivoli, this will be a haunting, spectacular event. With its stylised neon aesthetic and operatic horror, Suspiria exists in a world of extremes, and the blistering intensity of its soundtrack is only heightened when heard live. It epitomises the blood-soaked, sensual giallo genre and tells the story of an American ballet student who stumbles onto a series of horrifying supernatural murders. This promises to be an all-out, nerve-shredding audio-visual onslaught.
After a long career, primarily marked by composing the soundtracks for the films of Dario Argento, Claudio Simonetti and his band have returned to the international stage - touring around the world playing the music that made Italian horror cinema so legendary. Claudio Simonetti is the mastermind behind Goblin and their litany of incredible soundtracks, including Deep Red 1975, Dawn of the Dead 1978, and Tenebre 1982.
