Dick Van Dyke, stars as eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts who, at the behest of his two children, rescues a racing car from the wreckers and creates a fantastical flying machine named ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’. It piques the interest of Baron Bomburst, ruler of a distant land who seeks the car for himself. The Potts family – children Jeremy and Jemima along with their father – meet the dazzling Truly Scrumptious played by Sally Ann Howes. Amid much hijinks, outrageous inventions, budding romance and the fabulously spooky Child Catcher from the land of Vulgaria, the group must outwit kidnappers and rescue a grandfather.
