Extensive casualties from the Avengers' defeat of Ultron prompt new calls to rein in the team. A remorseful Tony Stark supports plans to put them under the jurisdiction of the United Nations, but Steve Rogers argues that unknowable agendas are more dangerous. When an attack on the UN kills Wakanda's king, his son and heir T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) takes the throne, together with the mantle of Black Panther. The Winter Soldier is blamed for the attack and the resulting rifts among the Avengers exacerbate longstanding differences. Stark teams with Black Widow, War Machine, Vision, T'Challa and new recruit Spider-Man (Tom Holland), while Rogers joins forces with the Winter Soldier, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye and Ant-Man. In the choreographed chaos of the airport battle, Iron Man and Captain America clash over personal history.
