About
Candyman will screen from an imported 35mm print.
Helen (Virginia Madsen), an academic writing a book on a mythical killer known as the Candyman, decides to visit a run-down housing project where the legend is still very much part of the residents' lives. Hearing stories of how the spirit of the Candyman will apparently be summoned into corporeal existence if anyone speaks his name five times in a row into a mirror, the sceptical Helen soon sets off a terrible series of events, with the Candyman (Tony Todd) returning to continue his murderous undertakings. Bernard Rose adapts a story by Clive Barker for this riveting and politically incisive exploration of urban legends and America’s history of violent racism.
