About
'A quiet, sensitive masterpiece,Honey is the final part of Semih Kaplanoğlu's trilogy about a young poet named Yusuf, who we meet here as a six-year old, learning the harsh realities of life when his beekeeper father disappears in the forest. Yusuf adores his father Yakup, who precariously climbs tall trees daily to reach his hives. One day, a branch snaps and Yakup is left hanging desperately on a rope. We then backtrack, through a series of set-pieces explaining Yusuf's devoted relationships with his mother and father, two very different characters, yet both adored by their sweet son. When disaster befalls the little family, Yusuf is forced to learn not only about the wonder and beauty of nature, but also the random, cruel quirks of fate that shape lives and destinies.'
