About
Jiří Trnka’s last feature film, and the first puppet film to be shot in CinemaScope, is a tour de force of enchantment and wonder. The intersecting worlds of Shakespeare’s play are brought to life in fantastical floral delight. The film was awarded the selection of the Technical Committee at the 1959 Cannes Film Festival for its phenomenal animation and puppetry, and is widely considered on of Trnka’s finest works.
