'Filipino Indie' is a survey of independent and experimental digital filmmaking from the Philippines. The program highlights an artistic turn towards experimenting with documentary realism and the creation of hybrid forms of non-fiction and drama. Co-curated with leading Filipino artist Yason Banal, the project comprises a screening program and a new video work by Banal drawing together a wide range of visual material.

Co-curator Yason Banal is an artist who explores installation, photography, video, performance, text, curating and pedagogy. In addition to his studio work, he teaches film studies at the University of the Philippines Film Institute.
