SYNOPSIS

'Dirty Harry revolves around the pursuit of a serial killer by a maverick cop who begins to operate outside the law when frustrated by a bureaucracy that restricts his methods in deference to the civil rights of the criminal suspect. The film created something of a critical furore on its release, the controversy hinging on the extent to which audiences were encouraged to identify with Harry's seeming advocation of vigilante justice.'
