About
The River will screen from an imported 35mm print.
Legendary French director Jean Renoir’s first colour film is a visually spectacular coming of age drama. Three young women living in India fall for an American soldier who has come to stay with his cousin. As they deal with the vagaries of love and death, the Bengal River around which they live flows endlessly – the site of quotidian needs and important rituals.
