SYNOPSIS

A playful and clever mix of fact and fiction, The Watermelon Woman stars writer/director Cheryl Dunye playing a version of herself:  a young black lesbian working in a video store, trying to make a documentary about a black actress from the 1930s and the romantic entanglements that happen along the way.
