SYNOPSIS

A Thousand Cuts is a riveting documentary about the decline of democracy in the Philippines and remarkable journalist Maria Ressa, along with her media organisation Rappler, who dare to report the truth in the face of immediate danger.

President Rodrigo Duterte, elected in 2016, promised a violent ‘war on drugs’. His aggressive tactics have led to government sanctioned murders and a president who wields social media as a weapon targeting journalists with arrests and threats of violence.
